Does Your School Have A School Plan????????

As school violence becomes a growing problem,I think students, parents, and school employees should know what to do during a school emergency. First teachers and parents should talk to their students and children to see what they would do during an emergency. Teachers specifically need to explain to their students how they would evacuate the building or what they would do if there was an intruder in the building. Here are some safety guidelines that you need to know during a crisis. I went to several websites on the Internet to see what I could find. I found many safety guidelines and they all pretty much talked about four steps. They are prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. The prevention process has many steps. First talk to your community emergency responder and discuss problems in the school, second know who is in charge of violence prevention strategies, third know how the school addresses school violence and, Last find problems in your school regarding student violence and crime. Next is preparedness, make sure you have a plan. Know how to get out of the building and how to contact each other during a situation. Prevention doesn't always stop emergencies from happening so this is where the response part comes in. Always know the crisis and where it is happening, activate any incident management systems then decide the best thing to do. (Have a lock down, evacuation, reverse evacuation.) Decide if you have all the equipment you need and monitor your emergency first aid. Finally the last step is recovery. First you need to return to learning as quickly as possible, see how the crisis has emotional impacted the people involved and last see what mistakes were made and things that should have been done differently. These are some safety guidelines that I think every school should follow. If these guidelines are followed I believe school violence will stop being such a growing problem.

I really like how you've covered the four steps, and I believe prevention and preparedness are key! Nice job on hyperlinking to other resources out there! You refer to some great articles. :)
